Hotel Newport

Newport is the hub of the Great Western Greenway and is the perfect location to have a Spring break. Forest trails at Wild Nephin, explore the back-roads of  Clewbay and if it's safe cycling routes you are after then the Greenway to Achill island or Westport are great options. There are so many hidden gems to be discovered that a weekend is not enough.

The event will have 2 timed gravel sections, each section will be named and marked, a timing mat will record your time, you dont have to race these sections but the option is there to race your buddies.

The person who records the fastest times over the timed sections will be the overall winner. (Enduro style)

(Not necessarily the first back to the finish line)

Depending on numbers we will have category prizes for the fastest person in each category over each section.

A really great gravelly day out...

It has to be one of the most scenic routes in Ireland..#runofireland #wildmayo #mayodotie #runireland24th Annual Furnace 10K walk in aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation Sunday July 17th from 11am.Newport, Mayo, Ireland Hospice Support Group is delighted to announce they are back again with their annual Furnace 10K walk in aid of Hospice. For the past 23 years the beautiful scenic walk has been well supported by walkers and sponsors alike, all united in raising vital funds for Hospice and they are hoping this year will be no different. The starting point for the walk is Derradda Community Centre where parking spaces can be found. Directions to the centre can be easily got from Google Maps. The loop walk is clearly signposted with black marker posts and walkers should follow the blue arrows. Links to an online site can be found on the GoFundMe donation page where some great information about the loop walk can be found along with a PDF map which can be download. To keep the feeling of community and togetherness which has always been such an important and special part of the day the organisers are asking those taking part to take photos of their walk and share them on the Mayo Roscommon Hospice Facebook page.Hospice fundraising has been hit hard over the past few years and all support will be greatly appreciated. Anyone with a friend or family member who has had need of their services can testify that the dignity and help given to the afflicted and the peace of mind and support given to their families is unmeasurable so please support this very worthy cause. Enjoy the scenic walk and think of your loved ones. Make a donation, or sponsor someone on the walk and help Hospice to help others. #lovenewport #supportlocal #wildatlanticway #hospice #mayoroscommonhospice #10kmwalk #donation #loopwalks #fundraising ...
